Generate a policy with AI

Where: Dashboard → Compliance → Policies → open a policy → Generate with AI. Open Policies.

Available for: standard (framework) policies that have a Vamu template. Custom policies you created yourself don't show the button.

Costs: each generation uses AI credits. The generator shows "N / M credits remaining". If you have none left, ask your administrator.

Steps

1. Open the policy and click Generate with AI. The AI Policy Generator opens.
2. Requirements: answer the questions tailored to this policy (for example your MFA tool or recovery time objective), then click Generate.
3. Preview: watch the policy being written. Vamu then validates it against your framework's requirements and shows a badge: Audit Ready, Needs Review or Not Publishable.
   • Click Show full document to read all of it, or Download to save a copy.
   • Click Refine, describe what to change under Refinement instructions (for example "Make the password section more specific about rotation"), and click Apply.
   • Click Regenerate to start again, or Back to change your answers.
4. Click Approve, then Approve again under Approve the content to attach the text to the policy.

The policy then follows the normal review flow. See Write, review and publish a policy.

Good to know

• Closing the generator before approving discards the generated text.
• Clicking Stop halts generation; the partial draft is marked "this draft has not been validated".
